Safeguarding Policy Statement

Athlone RSC  provides activities for young people that include casual swimming, swimming lessons, water polo, watersafety, camps, fitness classes and access to the  gym.

We provide hire of the swimming pool to clubs , schools ,and camps.

We provide hire of the astro turf to  clubs. We also provide free access to our playground and skate park.

Athlone RSC risk assessment document indicates the areas of potential risk of harm, the likelihood of the risk occurring ,and gives the required policy or guidance documents required to alleviate these risks. The identified risks are listed in the risk assessment under the following headings. Use of facilities and activities; reporting  procedures ; recruitment;  communications; and general risk of harm.

The Athlone RSC risk assessment was undertaken on the 9^th March 2018.

Athlone RSC Child Safeguarding Statement has been developed in line with requirements under the Child First Act 2015,( the children first:National Guidance , and Tusla’s Child Safeguarding :A Guide for Policy, Procedure and Pratice)

Athlone RSC operates in line with our Safeguarding Policies .In addition to the procedures listed in our risk assessment, the following procedures support our intention to safeguard children while they are availing of our activities and facilities:

• Procedure for the management of allegations of abuse or misconduct against workers / volunteers of a child availing of our activities and facilities.
• Procedure for the safe recruitment and selection of workers and volunteers to work with children.
• Procedure for provision of and access to child safeguarding training and information, including the identification of the occurrence of harm.
• Procedure for the reporting of child protection or welfare concerns to Tusla
